British expats surge back to Spain

Spain best areas

BRITISH buyers are back on top in Spain, according to new data from a leading home builder. In a huge surge Britons reserved more second homes in Spain in October than any other nationality.

This was the first time that Britons had been on top since before the pandemic when travel restrictions were imposed. October also saw the highest number of homes reserved since 2015.

Taylor Wimpey España said it had seen figures of second home reservations rise for the last three months.

British reservations rose through August, September and October at higher rates than the same months in 2019.

Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey España, said: “British appetite for Spanish second homes is well and truly alive once more.

“After multiple lockdowns, and now with far greater freedom to work away from the office, we’re seeing families rush to turn their dreams of owning a home in Spain into reality.”

Taylor Wimpey España said it had seen a huge demand for key ready homes as Britons wanted to enjoy the sunshine as soon as possible.

Open and spacious interiors are in high demand as many Britons want to be able to work from home in Spain.

Terraces are extremely popular, particularly those surrounded by Spain’s beautiful natural environment.

Golf course properties are surging in popularity as Britons seek to enjoy the advantages of golf course living.

It said three bedroom townhouses at Green Golf in Estepona, Malaga, epitomised the kind of second homes Britons are seeking.

The homes are southwest facing and are all available for Britons to move into straight away.

The frontline golf properties are part of a gated, private development with beautiful communal gardens for residents to enjoy.

Townhouses at Green Golf also benefit from communal swimming pools and prices for the homes start at €299,000 plus VAT (£255,000).

Unsurprisingly, Taylor Wimpey España found that the most popular Spanish destination was the Costa del Sol.

A favourite with British expats, the stunning Southern region, has everything second home owners could want.

Pritchard said: “The Costa del Sol is a long-term favourite with British families and it’s easy to see why.

“Beautiful beaches, great food, bustling towns, exceptional golf and other sporting facilities, there’s just everything here.
