Finding the right home on Spain’s Costa Blanca

Finding the right home on Spain’s Costa Blanca’s a Breeze with Taylor Wimpey España

The Costa Blanca has long been one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. For over 70 years Britons have flocked to the 120 miles of sandy beaches and warm Mediterranean waters for their holidays. Last year alone, Alicante airport, the gateway to the Costa Blanca welcomed a record 15.7 million travellers, almost 20% more than 2022, with some predicting that passenger numbers could reach 20 million by 2026.

The ease of access, at around just 2 hours 30 mins from the UK to Alicante, is a major draw for holidaymakers along with holiday homeowners, according to the experts at the 65-years established housebuilder, Taylor Wimpey España.

The short, direct flight combined with the multitude of UK destinations served by Alicante international airport (London, Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham, Exeter, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Newquay, Southend, and Belfast), many year-round, make it the ideal overseas destination.

In fact, so is the demand that even more new flights are being added this summer. Ryanair will start new flights from Norwich and Cardiff to Alicante from this March and May respectively along with new routes to Münster (Germany), Rzeszów (Poland), Zagreb (Croatia), Sofia (Bulgaria), and Barcelona to meet wider European demand for the Spanish hotspot. EasyJet also now operates two flights a week from Southend airport to Alicante whilst new flights from Southampton to Alicante have also been announced for this summer by the low-cost carrier.

“Easy of access from the UK, and other European destinations, to Alicante remains one of the region’s key attractions. This combined with the plethora of natural beauty, favourable climate, rich culture and affordable homes has made the Costa Blanca such a popular destination for decades.” Sales & Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

In line with its ongoing popularity as a destination to visit, the Costa Blanca remains one of the hottest spots in Spain to purchase a holiday home. For Taylor Wimpey España, almost a third of their buyers choose to buy a home in this region, attracted by the choice of property types, variety of locations and price points.

One new development from Taylor Wimpey España which has proven particularly popular is ‘Breeze’ – a collection of new build apartments, terraced and detached villas in Balcon de Finestrat, Alicante. Located in a quiet, well-connected area close to Benidorm, the beaches, and the Puig Campana golf course, almost 40 homes within ‘Breeze’ were sold to buyers from 16 different nationalities in the first year. Only a handful of apartments and townhouses in this first phase remain with demand so great that the second phase, featuring a new collection of 3-bedroom townhouses, semi-detached villas and detached villas, is now being launched by Taylor Wimpey España.

All boasting Mediterranean views, high quality finishes, fitted kitchen and bathrooms, air conditioning and heating along with access to communal swimming pools and gardens, children’s play area and parking for bicycles, this new phase of ‘Breeze’ will offer energy rated ‘A’ homes, due for completion in October 2025, from EUR 274,000 + VAT.
