“Sea” Development Launched

Leading Spanish home builder Taylor Wimpey España has launched a new development – called Mare – just a four-minute stroll from the seafront in Marbella. The launch comes as the firm reveals that all but seven homes at its nearby development Terra have sold out within nine months.

Andalusia’s sun-drenched blend of beaches, lively towns and cities, superb gastronomy, world-class golf courses and more has long been popular with both Spanish and foreign homebuyers. The region accounts for 20.46% of all Spanish property sales, according to Q2 2023 figures from the Colegio de Registradores (the Spanish property registrars), with foreigners accounting for 14.19% of those purchases.

The new Mare development (“mare” meaning “sea” in Latin) is in San Pedro de Alcántara, close to the beach and minutes from the glitz and glamour of Puerto Banus and all the delights of Marbella. The development, which represents an investment of €52 million into the area by Taylor Wimpey España, will provide spacious two- and three-bedroom apartments, along with substantial four-bedroom penthouses. The homes are just a four-minute walk from the seafront promenade and three minutes from the ancient part of San Pedro de Alcántara.

Properties at Mare will be constructed in compliance with the regulations contained in the new Technical Building Code (CTE), positioning the homes are at the forefront of the market and providing the highest levels of energy efficiency. In addition to the apartments, the development will include a large communal pool and gardens for owners to relax in.

The new launch follows a successful first half of 2023 for Taylor Wimpey España. The firm completed 228 homes during the year’s first half, compared with 203 during the first half of 2022, with an average selling price of €374,000.

Andalusia is certainly a hit with British second home buyers, consistently coming in as the most popular region for Britons buying with Taylor Wimpey España. The firm is anticipating a busy second half of 2023 in terms of demand for its homes in this region, along with its properties in the Costa Blanca and Mallorca.

Nor is Taylor Wimpey España alone in its positive outlook. According to the latest Real Estate Barometer carried out by UCI and SIRA, 55% of real estate agents in Spain expect to see a moderate increase in the volume of second home purchases during the coming months.
