It’s all about the prime market in the south of Spain

Taylor Wimpey España’s focus is on properties costing between €250,000 and €300,000 (£217,000 and £260,000), which equates to a new two-bedroom apartment in Estepona or Mijas, where land is available to develop. Mijas is a golf and beach destination 20 minutes from Marbella and Malaga.

British love affair with the Costa del Sol is a long-standing one. Main tourist magnets — Marbella, Torremolinos, and Puerto Banús offer a quick fix of sun-soaked escapism easily accessed via dozens of daily flights to Malaga.

The costa continues to draw home-hunters, although Brexit uncertainty has hit the lower end of the market. “Brexit is a big issue for developers,” says Marc Pritchard, the sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey España, a developer. “Last year was great for the UK market, but demand has dropped off.”
