Major UK-backed project: high-end homes to Denia

Major UK-backed project brings 86 high-end homes to Denia

British property developer Taylor Wimpey España is pushing ahead with its expansion in Denia, targeting buyers with high purchasing power and fuelling ongoing debate about the area’s capacity and the difficulty of securing affordable housing. The company, whose UK-based parent reported over €4 billion in global revenue last year, has announced a new project in the Marina Alta capital: six residential buildings comprising a total of 86 apartments in La Pedrera.

€23 million investment over two phases

The scheme, named Sora, represents an investment of €23 million. Construction will take place in two phases, with completion and handover expected for September 2027. Prices begin at €315,000 for two-bedroom homes of around 87.5m², rising to €425,000 for penthouses and €470,000 for duplex units offering up to 126m² of space.

Ten minutes by car to the centre of Denia’

To attract prospective buyers, the developer highlights that Sora is a private residential complex featuring communal swimming pools, landscaped gardens with local vegetation, a children’s play area and an on-site gym. The La Pedrera location, on Calle Apolo, is promoted as offering “panoramic views of the sea, the Montgó and Denia”, supported by the south-facing orientation of many of the units. The firm also emphasises that the town centre is “easily reachable in under ten minutes by car”.

Housing prices at record highs

In its promotional notes, Taylor Wimpey España states that this development strengthens its commitment to “one of the most dynamic coastlines in the Spanish property market”. The company expects strong returns, pointing out that property prices in Spain have reached “historic highs”, averaging €2,303 per m². In Denia, figures are significantly higher at €3,232 per m², according to October data from Idealista.

The British firm is well known locally. Before Sora, it launched Bella Beach on Almadrava beach, marketed between 2023 and 2024, with 55% of buyers being Spanish—mostly couples aged 40 to 60. “Denia has cemented its position as a highly reliable destination for national clients, who value its climate, gastronomy, connectivity and safety,” said Lola Mira, Taylor Wimpey España’s regional director for the Costa Blanca, in a previous statement.
