The UK is leading the charge when it comes to international property buyers snapping up homes in the Spanish sunshine.
UK citizens accounted for 7.93% of all home purchases by foreign buyers during Q4 2025 according to the Spanish Registrars – more than any other non-Spanish buyer nationality.
Figures from Registradores de España also shed light on which regions of Spain are most popular.
In terms of total market share, Andalusia is the clear leader, singlehandedly accounting for one in five of all home sales (20.03%).
According to seasoned local property expert Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Espana for the past 30 years, it is golf properties that are ticking all the right boxes for buyers from the UK right now.
He explains: “Between hybrid and remote working arrangements, and interest in easing into retirement part-time, buyers’ motivations have shifted when looking at homes in Spain.
“Many UK buyers seeking property in Spain these days aren’t just thinking of a second home in the sunshine.
“They’re considering the potential of properties as permanent homes, either for now or for the future.
“Golf course homes, with their greenery, sense of community and on-site facilities, satisfy these buyers’ demands very well.”
Golf is a major economic driver in Andalusia.
The region attracts 700,000 golf tourists per year, with regional direct golf tourism spending reaching €1,757M in 2024.
Golf also drives significant investment in real estate, bringing an estimated €602M per year to Andalusia.
The region is now home to 123,400 homes owned by golf tourists, with a total value of over €30.1B.
Resorts such as La Cala Golf exemplify Andalusia’s real estate offering.
Homebuyers have not only the resort’s three acclaimed golf courses on their doorstep, but one of Spain’s top hydrotherapy spas, diverse restaurants and bars, tennis and padel courts, football facilities, a gym, wellness facilities and more.
Currently available homes at La Cala include stylish three-bedroom townhouses priced from €641,000 plus VAT and offering an ‘A’ rating for their energy efficiency.
Apartments and duplexes, costing from €410,000 plus VAT, are also available within La Cala, which overlooks its Europea Golf Course.
All properties are designed to make the most of the natural light and beautiful views, with spacious private outdoor areas and communal swimming pools.
