Marbella – More than just beaches!

As thousands of long term residents and visitors will confirm, there is more to Marbella than just gorgeous beaches

Think of Marbella and the image of beautiful beaches with waves lapping gently at the sand probably leaps straight to mind. There is, however, plenty more than just gorgeous beaches on offer.

According to the team at Taylor Wimpey España, it is a combination of Marbella’s reputation as a golfing paradise, its luxury shopping, lifestyle and nightlife options, its gastronomy and the array of options for local exploration that draw so many holidaymakers and second home buyers to the area. Of course, the 320 days of sunshine per year and Marbella’s 24 beaches, with their wide range of different water sports, certainly help too!

“Part of Marbella’s charm is that it’s not only packed with things to do, it also provides space and freedom to do nothing at all,”

Taylor Wimpey España’s Sales and Marketing Director

Taylor Wimpey España’s Sales and Marketing explains: “Marbella is home to so many renowned golf resorts – Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha, Santa María, La Quinta… Many of the families who buy holiday homes here are keen to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle more and that includes spending time on the fairways, enjoying the fresh air and exercise.”

Golf is so key to Marbella’s attractions that Taylor Wimpey España has developed a number of golf properties over the years. The latest – The Crest – will provide 14 exclusive apartments and penthouses at La Quinta Golf. The homes feature landscape-style terraces that merge into the open plan living areas of each home with large patio doors, to make the most of the natural light available.

The light and the sunshine are, of course, another major reason that so many visitors to the area fall in love with Marbella. The average July and August temperature of 24°C is ideal of long, lazy holiday days and evenings of partying with the celebrities and jetsetters in Marbella and Puerto Banus, with their international visitors from across the globe. Even in the coldest month of January, the average temperature is still 11°C – balmy compared to winter in more northern climates.

Marbella’s plentiful sunshine means the area is home to a lush natural environment that provides the ideal antidote to the pressures of modern urban life. Those looking for peace and quiet will find it here in abundance.

“Part of Marbella’s charm is that it’s not only packed with things to do, it also provides space and freedom to do nothing at all,” continues Taylor Wimpey España’s Marc. “You can just sit and listen to birdsong as you sip your morning coffee on the terrace, with no plans and no stresses. The beautiful scenery can be immensely calming and restorative.”

The apartments, penthouses and duplexes of Marbella Lake certainly deliver that sense of serenity. The homes enjoy a lovely lakeside setting at Nueva Andalucía, surrounded by greenery and with views of the sea sparkling in the distance. With communal pools and landscaped gardens on site, the development is the ideal place to relax, unwind and simply enjoy being present.

Another key part of Marbella’s pull is the local gastronomy. The region is home to an impressive 14 restaurants that hold Michelin stars, with seasonal local flavours celebrated in imaginative ways. But it’s not all about the fine dining and innovative flavour interpretations. Several nearby villages are known for their tempting traditional dishes, which adds to the charms of touring the local area.

Throw in celebrations such as those held for Easter, annual events, concerts, cultural attractions such as museums, the wide array of sports on offer, trekking along the Caminito del Rey and it’s a wonder that visitors find the time to visit Marbella’s beaches at all!
