Description of the beach:

Es Trenc Beach, located on the stunning island of Mallorca, is often hailed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Balearic Islands. This pristine, 6-kilometer stretch of powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters offers an idyllic escape for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. Es Trenc is known for its natural, unspoiled beauty, free from high-rise buildings and commercial development, making it a serene retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility.

This beach is one of the most renowned beaches on the island of Mallorca, famous for its Caribbean-like blue waters and brilliant sand that stretches for 2 kilometers along the island’s southern coast. Located between the popular tourist resort of Colonia de Sant Jordi, the flat wetlands of Ses Salines—where some of the best salts in the Balearic Islands are produced—and Sa Ràpita, Es Trenc, which translates from Catalan as “break,” is a beach for nature lovers who appreciate the feeling of seclusion, wild beauty, and warm climate. Es Trenc is considered one of the top 20 beaches in Mallorca.

Es Trenc is a peaceful beach, attracting primarily groups of young people aged 20 to 30 and families, but also frequented by older visitors. Water sports are rare or non-existent, and with only one main restaurant and a few beach bars (the Mallorcan-style beach bars serve casual but good food), there are limited dining and tourist activity options. There are sunbed and umbrella rentals, some self-service, and plenty of space to find a spot to lay your towel. However, it’s highly recommended to bring your own umbrella, as there is no shaded area.

People come to Es Trenc for its beach and to unwind. Occasionally, one of the bars may offer live music after six in the evening, creating a small party atmosphere, but overall it maintains a tranquil environment. The beach is popular among tourists and locals alike, and it’s not unusual to find nudists, especially further away from the crowds. It’s advisable to bring extra water and food since there are no shops or accommodations nearby, and facilities are limited to basic restrooms without showers or changing rooms. It’s also common to encounter vendors walking along the beach selling items like tapestries, cold drinks, and handmade jewelry.

Facilities:

Es Trenc Beach provides a range of facilities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all visitors. There are sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent, several beach bars (chiringuitos) offering refreshments and local delicacies, as well as public restrooms and showers. Lifeguard services are on duty during peak season, ensuring a safe environment for families and swimmers. Additionally, there are designated areas for naturists, making Es Trenc a welcoming spot for everyone.

Directions:

Es Trenc Beach is conveniently located in the southern part of Mallorca, near the town of Campos. To reach Es Trenc, you can drive from Palma de Mallorca, which takes approximately 40 minutes. Follow the Ma-19 motorway towards Campos, then take the Ma-6030 to Colonia de Sant Jordi, and finally, follow signs to Es Trenc. There is a large parking area near the beach, though it can get crowded during peak season, so arriving early is recommended. Public transportation options include buses from Palma or Campos to Colonia de Sant Jordi, with a short taxi ride or walk to the beach from there.
