Description of the beach:
Cala Mondragó is one of the finest beaches in the southeast area of Mallorca, approximately 10 kilometers from the rural town of Santanyí and the popular tourist resort of Cala D’Or. The cala stands out as one of Mallorca’s top Blue Flag beaches, partly because it was declared a natural park in 1992, protecting the area from overdevelopment and mass tourism. While the beach can get quite crowded during the summer months, it remains clean and relatively unspoiled, with beachgoers respecting its natural beauty and ecological responsibility status. It is recognized as one of the top 20 beaches in Mallorca.
Cala Mondragó, also known as Caló de sa font de n’Alis, is a 75-meter-long cove nestled between two rocky outcrops, featuring white sands and calm, crystal-clear waters. Pine trees and desert plants line its backside, offering charming trails to stroll along or find a spot of shade if needed. Additionally, just 400 meters away lies the larger sister beach of Cala S’Amarador, an excellent alternative if this cala is too crowded. Cala S’Amarador boasts a greater expanse, stretching 145 meters in length, and in 2008, it was voted Europe’s “best beach” out of over 3000 proposals on onbeach.com. It is also surrounded by the Mondragó Natural Park, filled with pine trees and vegetation.
Cala Mondragó, nestled on the southeastern coast of Mallorca, is a breathtaking natural haven renowned for its pristine beauty and serene atmosphere. Surrounded by lush pine forests and rugged cliffs, this secluded beach boasts soft golden sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters, making it an ideal spot for sunbathing, swimming, and relaxation.
Cala Mondragó is also home to a protected nature reserve, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of the area through scenic hiking trails and picturesque coastal walks.
