Christmas Time in Malaga – Cribs and Concert

The Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall and Costa del Sol News are presenting Christmas Time in Malaga – Cribs and Concert – on December 11th.

Christmas magic begins early in December with an annual trip to Malaga to enjoy the magnificent Christmas decorations. The historic old town is brightened up with thousands of lights and festive flowers creating a Christmas ambience not to be missed as well as the carefully created traditional cribs (with more than 200 figures) that are displayed in the City Hall and many of the City´s churches.

Christmas Time in Malaga Schedule:

A short guided tour through these magical scenes and a visit to Gibralfaro, Malaga’s highest point, will be followed by a visit to a well-known teteria (tea house) for Christmas tea-time with cake.

The evening brings you the celestial voices of the Carmina Nova choir in concert at the beautiful Maria Christina Concert Hall. The choir, under the direction of the conductor Javier Serrano, was founded in 1988 in Malaga and since then has been dedicated to the singing of diverse styles from various eras with a great repertoire of symphonic works and a cappella.

This year, the concert is entitled Navidad en el Barroco, Baroque Christmas. As ceremonial as being the theme of the concert, it is also the setting. The Royal Hall of the conservatory is one of the architectural gems of the city. The restored building from the 15th Century, with it´s stunningly beautifully painted ceiling, is the perfect place for such wonderful musical and acoustic moments as this.
