Most cosmopolitan: Mijas new homes pull in 30 nationalities as Spanish buyers go elsewhere

Buyers from 30 countries have reserved new homes in Mijas during 2025 and 2026, according to Taylor Wimpey España, leaving Spanish clients with only 7 per cent of the deals in two schemes at La Cala Golf Resort.

Reservations on new homes at Solana Village and The Meadows put Mijas as by far the most international destination in a three-way comparison with Palma and La Manga.

Married buyers aged between 55 and 60 dominate the Mijas list. Completed reservations across those two years averaged €560,000. Spanish purchasers are fifth by volume. That is a long way from Palma, where they took 67 per cent of reservations at 6 Palma and Cor 39, and from La Manga, where every reservation studied at Siena went to a Spanish buyer.

Spanish demand is comparatively tiny in Mijas

Mijas shows the widest mix of nationalities on that coastal sample. Overseas clients account for 93 per cent of the reservations logged.  The sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey España, says new-build demand on the Spanish coast does not follow one template. Each destination, he argues, pulls a different mix of origin, age and budget. In this snapshot, Mijas is the municipality that best attracts a fragmented international demand.

That pattern also fits a wider Costa del Sol picture where overseas buyers keep driving off-plan interest in Mijas Costa, Marbella and Fuengirola. Prices start at €400,000 for Solana Village apartments, which are listed from €400,000, with an energy rating of B. Townhouses at The Meadows start from €650,000 and carry an A rating. Taylor Wimpey previously set out The Meadows as a 26-home first phase at the resort; that launch is covered here: New luxury properties at La Cala Golf Resort. Project details sit on the developer’s pages for Solana Village and The Meadows.

Palma costs more, La Manga stays local

Palma recorded the fattest average ticket, €968,000, with typical buyers aged 45 to 59. La Manga’s average was €403,000, mostly married buyers over 60. Mijas is not the most expensive, but it is the most cosmopolitan in buyer origin. Among the coastal markets studied, this is the most international demand.
