Mallorca was referred to last month by travel journalist Anna Nicholas as a perfect place for Britons to buy property.
Now, new figures from the National Statistics Institute appear to back her up, showing that the number of former UK residents there is growing steadily. The data demonstrates there are now nearly 24,000 Brits on the Balearic island.
In total, people from foreign countries including the UK make up 21.6 per cent of its population, meaning that anyone becoming a property owner there would benefit from a large expat community.
Stephen Dight from Sotheby’s International Realty, explained that locations such as Mallorca are likely to be more popular than the Spanish mainland with people eager to move abroad.
“The Balearics are a much more aspirational destination and, with higher property prices and a lower supply of quality homes than [the] mainland, attract a wealthier expat,” he added.
