The 16th Majorcan Ballet Season will open on 14 May with an amazing performance by the  stars of the Paris Opera Ballet who will be taking to the stage of the Palma Auditorium. With special guest participation from Jose Carlos Martinez, who as of September 2011 will be the next director of the Spanish National Dance Company for a period of five years.

The current star dancer of the Paris Opera is considered one of the great dancers of today. He began his studies in Cartagena Pilar Molina. In 1987 he joined the Paris Opera School becoming a year later, in the corps de ballet dancer of the Ballet of the Opera. In 1992 he became first dancer and in 1997 he was appointed Ballet star dancer of the Paris Opera.

The Paris Opera Ballet is today considered to be one of the world’s finest companies. The average age is 25, making it one of the youngest. Its repertoire is very extensive, ranging from the major romantic and classical ballets to creations by contemporary choreographers. The Ballet currently stages some 180 performances per season in Paris, the French regions and abroad.

The provisional program for the evening is said to include Raymonda – Paso a seis from the II Act, 2 prisioneros, 2 verdugos , Don Quijote – Paso a dos from the III act, plus many more.
