However, those looking for a little sun during the festive season may wish to head to\u00a0Mallorca.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>With the Spanish island experiencing pleasant temperatures all year-round, it could be the ideal destination for people wishing to ring in the new year in warmer conditions then may be experienced back home.<\/p>\n<p>Holidaymakers looking to take part in traditional Spanish celebrations may wish to head to Palma&#8217;s La Seu cathedral on New Year&#8217;s Eve for the Festa de l&#8217;Estendard. Although a visit to the cathedral is stunning at any time of year, taking it in on December 31st is sure to be particularly illuminating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>With a fiesta held to commemorate King James I of Aragon&#8217;s conversion of the town to Christianity in 1229, the building becomes alive as it is the centre point of a street procession full of music and dancing. In addition, there will be the chance to see performers wearing traditional Mallorquin costume. After the parade is over, a special mass is held inside the cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>In a similar way to celebrations across the world a countdown brings in the new year in Mallorca.
