<\/p>\nUK news, books and convenience retailer WHSmith has opened to two airside stores at Alicante airport after securing a five-year contract to operate at Spain\u2019s sixth busiest airport, its first venture in the country in travel-retail.<\/p>\n

The stores will offer a broad range of products to passengers on the move, with a selection of Spanish and International newspapers, magazines and books as well as confectionery, drinks, grab & go sandwiches and travel essentials.<\/p>\n
Both stores provide a premium, design-focused contemporary look and feel, in keeping with Alicante International airport\u2019s design aspirations for its airside lounge. This includes an increase in the footprint of the main airside store to enable WHSmith to offer an improved and extended range of sandwiches, soft drinks, souvenirs and reading materials in multiple languages to reflect the airport\u2019s passenger profile.<\/p>\n
WHSmith International director Louis de Bourgoing said: \u201cSecuring the contract for the stores in Alicante is a significant step in our European development strategy. It follows the win of the Dusseldorf International airport contract and further openings in northern Europe.
