Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has confirmed that between them visitors spent an impressive \u20ac63 billion, up 6.5% on the previous year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/C3_Calpesol_beach.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6974\" src=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/C3_Calpesol_beach.jpg\" alt=\"xPLAYA\" width=\"880\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/C3_Calpesol_beach.jpg 880w, https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/C3_Calpesol_beach-768x323.jpg 768w, https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/C3_Calpesol_beach-300x126.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 880px) 100vw, 880px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tourism accounts for 10.9% of Spain\u2019s GDP, according to the PM, generating 1 in every 9 jobs. Prime Minister Rajoy has stressed the area\u2019s importance, saying it is, \u201ca strategic sector for both the present and the future of our economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The impact of the record-breaking year has been felt far and wide across Spain, with the country\u2019s tourism minister recognising it as, \u201cone of the key sectors in Spain\u2019s economic recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Executive Vice president of Exceltur, Jos\u00e9 Luis Zoreda, comments,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTourism is leading the generation of net employment, closing 2014 with 53,213 enrolled in Social Security, 4.1% more than in 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He adds that tourism has given a boost to several related sectors, including commerce and construction. It is something that <strong>Marc Pritchard<\/strong>, Sales and Marketing Director for leading homebuilder <a href=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/\"><strong>Taylor Wimpey Espa\u00f1a<\/strong><\/a>, has observed as well. He comments,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRising visitor numbers are great news for Spain\u2019s construction sector.
