{"id":6896,"date":"2015-01-21T15:42:19","date_gmt":"2015-01-21T15:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/?p=6896"},"modified":"2015-01-21T15:42:19","modified_gmt":"2015-01-21T15:42:19","slug":"spanish-tourism-boasts-healthy-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/spanish-tourism-boasts-healthy-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Spanish tourism boasts healthy results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THERE were positive results for Spanish tourism as 2014 closed with a 2.9 per cent increase in people taking holidays in the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/19805_easter-holidays-confirm-spanish-tourist-sector-boom_1_large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/19805_easter-holidays-confirm-spanish-tourist-sector-boom_1_large.jpg\" alt=\"19805_easter-holidays-confirm-spanish-tourist-sector-boom_1_large\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6897\" srcset=\"https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/19805_easter-holidays-confirm-spanish-tourist-sector-boom_1_large.jpg 640w, https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/19805_easter-holidays-confirm-spanish-tourist-sector-boom_1_large-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/19805_easter-holidays-confirm-spanish-tourist-sector-boom_1_large-225x150.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In total, 65 million foreigners visited Spain the last year, 7.1 per cent more than in 2013, bringing in \u20ac49 billion, a 3.9 per cent increase in revenue compared with the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>The tourism industry proved one of the main sources of employment in 2014, creating more than 53,213 jobs and at the same time boosting the performance of related sectors, such as commerce and construction, through the renovation of tourist areas, according to Exceltur.<\/p>\n<p>However, the average amount of money a tourist spends during a trip has decreased by 3 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, each foreign visitor generated a real benefit of \u20ac754, a figure much lower than the \u20ac1,116 generated 14 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>One reason for this decrease, according to Exceltur, is that many visitors stay in unlicensed accommodation, with an average daily cost of \u20ac67, while authorised homes or hotels cost an average of \u20ac114 per day.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, many tourists arrive in the country through low-cost airlines and by car, which amounts to a daily benefit of \u20ac74 and \u20ac56 respectively, while tourists who choose traditional airlines leave a benefit of more than \u20ac100.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THERE were positive results for Spanish tourism as 2014 closed with a 2.9 per cent increase in people taking holidays in the country.
