Despite economic contraction and a 3% fall in the overall number of real estate transactions, foreign second home buyers just can\u00b4t get enough of Spanish property.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of the three Spanish regions in which Taylor Wimpey Espa\u00f1a, leading Spanish house builder specialise – Mallorca, the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca – the latter experienced a massive 57% increase in sales throughout 2012 compared to 2011.<\/p>\n

The region not only remains one of the most popular tourism destinations in Spain but also a second home hotspot, with the increase of sales reflecting buyer demand not just from the UK but across the globe.<\/p>\n

Indeed, as has been recently reported, a huge number of foreign buyers have descended on the Costas to find their perfect second home. According to Vicente D\u00f3mine, Head of the Housing and Public Works Department of the regional government in the Costa Blanca, the purchase of homes in the region by foreign citizens accounted for 29% of the total number sold in Spain, a rise of 32% on 2011.<\/p>\n

Marc Pritchard<\/strong>,\u00a0Sales and Marketing Director<\/strong>\u00a0for Taylor Wimpey Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>\u00a0comments,<\/p>\n
