It has been a hard 18 months for property owners and developers in the Spain but there is definitely some light at the end of the tunnel for the Costa Blanca this week. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Investment<\/a><\/p>\n

The new airport, under construction near Murcia City, was touch and go for a few months in 2010 when, amongst other things, funding dried up.\u00a0 Thankfully it is all forging ahead again and construction is making great headway.<\/p>\n

The delays have meant that the opening of the airport has been put back by 10 months and should now open late summer this year. Naturally there has been extensive bickering about the delay to the airport and it is certainly not ideal that the high volumes of traffic that was hoped for in the summer will be using other airports. The fact that the airport has gone ahead is credit to Spain and the determination to keep the Costa Blanca ahead of the game and planning for their future.<\/p>\n

The airport is expected to triple the number of visitors to the area.\u00a0 It will have the positive affect of increasing competitive flight prices and also increasing rental incomes in the areas for landlords.<\/p>\n

\"Investment<\/a><\/p>\n

Ignacio Osle, Sales & Marketing Director of Taylor Wimpey de Espa\u00f1a comments: “Rental occupancy should definitely show an increase after the opening of the airport although it is very hard to state hard figures in a market like this.\u00a0 The Costa Blanca has been through a challenging period but seeing the Government and financiers investing in the infrastructure of the province is immensely reassuring for both current and prospective property owners.<\/p>\n

\"Investment<\/a><\/p>\n

Alicante airport saw a 2.7% increase in traffic in 2010 which was amazing considering the number of Brits that stayed away last year.\u00a0 Travelsupermarket.com, have recently completed a survey about holiday plans for 2011.\u00a0 They state that the number of customers wishing to take an overseas holiday this year has risen by 4% and the number of holiday makers that are considering taking 3\/4 short breaks rose from 21% to a staggering 32%.<\/p>\n

The survey also shows that Spain is the most popular choice overall and Britain is going to lose out, as people planning on braving a damp summer in the UK has dropped by 16%.\u00a0 Spain appears to be a top choice, benefiting from a weak Euro and the fact that accommodation owners are fighting for business which is driving the rental prices down.<\/p>\n

Taylor Wimpey de Espa\u00f1a’s Osle goes on to say: “Possibly the best long term news that we have received is the green light for the Paramount Studios theme park which now looks like it is definitely going ahead.\u00a0 Obviously a development of this size will take several years to plan and build but in doing so will bring many jobs to the area.\u00a0 The investment in our local infrastructure of \u20ac555.7 million will ensure that by the time the park opens its doors there will be enough airlines and high speed rail links in the area to serve a theme park of this magnitude.<\/p>\n
