{"id":1990,"date":"2011-09-07T11:25:27","date_gmt":"2011-09-07T09:25:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/?p=1990"},"modified":"2012-06-05T09:26:25","modified_gmt":"2012-06-05T09:26:25","slug":"tom-hanks-and-halle-berry-in-mallorca-this-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/tom-hanks-and-halle-berry-in-mallorca-this-september\/","title":{"rendered":"Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in Mallorca this September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>THE movie \u2018Cloud Atlas\u2019 starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry, will be filmed in Mallorca this September, the Mallorcan Film Commission confirmed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/cloud-atlas-2011-movie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1991\" title=\"Cloud Atlas 2011 Movie\" src=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/cloud-atlas-2011-movie-e1315387364803.jpg\" alt=\"Cloud Atlas 2011 Movie\" width=\"530\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/cloud-atlas-2011-movie-e1315387364803.jpg 530w, https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/cloud-atlas-2011-movie-e1315387364803-300x114.jpg 300w, https:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/cloud-atlas-2011-movie-e1315387364803-500x191.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other actors include Susan Sarandon, Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw.<\/p>\n<p>Filming is set to begin around September 15 and end around September 30, but it will not be released until October 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The hope is that the movie will popularize Mallorca as a destination in the same way that The Lord of the Rings did forNew Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>The directors, the Wachowski brothers (The Matrix) and Tom Tykwer, have already reserved 180 rooms at a Pollen\u00e7a Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Cloud Atlas\u2019 is based on the award winning novel by David Mitchell and follows the story of six characters living in different time eras, from the 19<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Century to a post-apocalyptic future.<\/p>\n<p>All but one of the main characters are the reincarnation of the same soul.<\/p>\n<p>There will be four film locations on the island including Port de Soller, Sa Calobra and Formentor for the 1850 era and Puig Major for the 2300 post-apocalyptic world where the only survivors live in a kind of Stone Age but with technological equipment, offering various special effects.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the \u20ac140million movie was filmed at the famous Babelsberg studios in\u00a0Berlin.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cloud Atlas<\/em>\u00a0is composed of six separate storylines, which can be summarized as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A na\u00efve clerk traveling on a Polynesian voyage in the 19th century<\/li>\n<li>An aspiring (British) composer who takes up residence with a brilliant composer who has syphilis in the 1930s<\/li>\n<li>A journalist investigating a California nuclear power plant in the 1970s<\/li>\n<li>A 21st century publisher who gets his hands on a novel that could change the world<\/li>\n<li>A human clone designed for slave labor in the future<\/li>\n<li>A Hawaiian tribesman who has survived the apocalypse and recounts aloud the history of the world from a remote island<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each storyline addresses issues related to the power struggle between various members of society, and how the ruling class often re-fashions history as it sees fit. The\u00a0<em>Cloud Atlas<\/em>\u00a0film adaptation will further connect these stories by having cast members play different roles in each one.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/cloud_atlas_cast.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1992\" title=\"Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in Mallorca this September\" src=\"http:\/\/taylorwimpeyspain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/cloud_atlas_cast.jpg\" alt=\"Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in Mallorca this September\" width=\"530\" height=\"397\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s expected that Tykwer will direct the pre-21st century storylines in\u00a0<em>Cloud Atlas<\/em>, while the Wachowskis tackle the futuristic portions.
