There can be little doubt about Spain\u2019s position as a world-leading beach destination. The Iberian country has just been awarded 627 Blue Flags for its beaches, a further 97 for its marinas and five for its tourist boats. The figures mean that Spain retains its position as having more Blue Flags than any other country, continuing a winning streak that has lasted 30 years.

Within Spain, it is the Valencian community that has more Blue Flags than any other region, at 153. Hot on its heels is Andalusia, with 148 Blue Flags, followed by Galicia with 125 and Catalonia with 120.

\u201cSpain\u2019s reputation as a world leader in terms of the quality of its beaches is a major tourism draw. Spanish beaches attract holidaymakers from across the globe, as well as second home owners seeking to live by the sea\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>
