The climate of the Tramuntana range is usually colder than the other parts of the island and in winter you can often see the area covered in snow. Though, there are no rivers in this area, there are a few hill torrents that swell quickly after rain. Cuber and Gorg Blau are the two reservoirs around serving as nature’s essential sources, much needed in an island which is frequently impacted by drought.
During spring and summer, the scenic road C710 and the villages along it see hundreds of travelers visiting it every day. But during off seasons, mostly during January and February, all the hotels in the region will be closed and practically there won’t be any buses also. During this time, the mountains are covered in snow and look completely as wild and beautiful as they were a thousand years ago. If you want to experience the unique flora and fauna around the mountains, there is no better way you can do it other than trying backpacking and mountain climbing. The unique pine trees growing out of the red rock, the sheep found in the ranges with their own warning buzzers tinkling and making echoes through the surrounding hills, the goats that will scamper you on your process, are all the gifts from nature and together with a touch of brilliance they promise you an excellent time here.
For adventurous travelers, the Tramuntana range is a true paradise. Hiking through the mountain ranges and exploring the nearest cities and villages from the top of the hills always gives a great feeling. Climbing through the steep rock walls of mountains and feeling the rhythm of nature is always an adventurer’s dream and there are few better places other than this island which gives you the opportunity. The seaside view is the best among nature’s treat and coupled with the general sunny and nice weather, Sierra de Tramuntana turns out to be a unique place for mountain and outdoor sports except ice climbing. If you’re thinking about traveling through these ranges, the best time would be the months of July and September. Take care to be careful for the freeways here are the most harmful around the island with its endless maze of sharp bends which require drivers to be on their guard.
With the myriad of entertainment opportunities and wonders it offers, the the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in Mallorca is indeed a paradise on earth!
