Leading Spanish home builder Taylor Wimpey España has shared insights into British and Irish homebuyers in Spain. Over the past two years, 45% of these buyers have been aged 45-59, with many focusing on enjoying the property now while also keeping one eye on future retirement plans. British and Irish buyers show an overwhelming preference for the Costa del Sol, with 80% of buyers choosing properties in this area (as opposed to homes in the Costa Blanca and Mallorca, where Taylor Wimpey España also has a strong presence). Access to the Costa del Sol’s outstanding golf courses is a major driver behind this. Taylor Wimpey España’s top three developments for sales to British and Irish buyers over the past two years are Solana Village at La Cala Golf Resort, Sunny Golf at Estepona Golf and Emerald Greens at the famous San Roque Golf Club in the Cadiz region. In terms of property type, apartments have won out over townhouses over the past two years for British and Irish buyers, accounting for 86% of their purchases, with both two- and three-bedroom layouts being snapped up.
