Jersey will continue to enjoy a weekly direct flight to the Med. in 2014, as FlyDirect announce a jet service that will take islanders to the island of Majorca in just 2 hours. Guernsey residents will also be able to take advantage of this service with same-day connecting flights.
The tour operator will be providing a total of 21 flights from Jersey between May & October 2014 to the Balearic Island, departing every Wednesday on convenient day-time flights.
The flights and holidays will be operated using a 125 seat Boeing 717 jet aircraft and will provide Islanders with an opportunity to enjoy 7 or 14 night inclusive holidays at a range of hotels and apartments in each region. Alternatively they can book flight seats only and organise their own accommodation.
‘We are delighted to have been able to secure this weekly flight direct to Majorca next summer. With no locally-based aircraft available to us, we needed to find an alternative carrier with the appropriate aircraft. For the first time in many years, we are pleased to be offering a jet service which will provide a travel time of just 2 hours,’ said Robert Mackenzie, Managing Director of FlyDirect’s parent company, C.I. Travel Group.
‘The opportunity to fly from Jersey direct to the Mediterranean sunshine on convenient daytime flights and avoid the congestion, extra cost and time involved when travelling via London or another UK airport, is proving more popular than ever,’ he added.
‘Whilst we are disappointed not to be able to offer the same service to Guernsey as in previous years, we believe the good inter-island connections will continue to prove popular to Guernsey islanders as well,’ he added.
Direct flights will depart Jersey at 11:00. The return journey departs from Palma at 09:30. The increased capacity provided by a larger aircraft means that the operator can provide a wider range of options, including 1, 2 or 3 week holidays as well as one-way flights.
As a special launch offer, a limited number of seats are available from £199 return per person with children aged 11 or under from just £99. Inclusive holiday prices start at just £426 half-board for 7 nights at the Costa Portals hotel, whilst a family of four (2 adults & 2 children under 12) can enjoy a 2 week self-catering holiday from just £1600 for the whole family. Prices include flights, accommodation and transfers to/from Palma airport. Connecting inter-island flights can also be booked through FlyDirect.
