Torrevieja May Fair this week

Having just played host to a legion of Roman´s during last week´s event on the Vista Alegre, this week sees Torrevieja taken over by a more traditional, albeit southern influenced fiesta, the Feria de Mayo, or May Fair.

There will be almost thirty venues housed in the marquees in the port area, all celebrating the Sevillana fiesta through music, dance, food and drink.

Wednesday evening sees the inauguration of the fiesta, with traditional music and song on the stage, a dance spectacular, an appearance by the Ritmo del Sur group, and a large fireworks display.

The entertainment continues on Thursday and Friday with more music and dance in the evening, and on Saturday the very popular parade of horses and carriages takes to the fair ground, as music and song continues throughout the day.

The horses continue to parade on Sunday, with more music and dance, before the event closes at midnight.

The centre of Torrevieja is likely to be busy for this event, although there are a number of car parks available within walking distance. The busiest times tend to be early afternoon and then into the evening, and so for a quieter experience, the traditional siesta time is always a favourite.
