Ryanair has unveiled its 2016 summer schedule for Alicante, which comes into force next April. The company will offer five new routes to Berlin, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Newcastle and Rome, reaching a total of 48 connections between April and November.
These new services will allow a total of 3.5 million passengers per year to travel through the airport, representing a growth of 15 per cent, helping to maintain the 2,600 jobs in Alicante-Elche airport. Apart from the new routes, links to Edinburgh, Gdansk, Krakow, Leeds, Manchester and Milan will be reinforced. In total there will be 48 routes with an average of 264 weekly flights.
Ryanair operates more than 1,600 flights per day from 75 bases, connecting 195 destinations in 31 countries, operating a fleet of 300 new Boeing 737-800s. They have recently announced that they will be ordering 283 new Boeing 737s, and have plans to acquire 100 Boeing 737 MAX additional 200s. According to the company this will allow a reduction in tariffs and increase passenger traffic from 104 million in 2015 to over 160 million annually by 2024. Ryanair currently has more than 9,500 highly qualified employees, plus a faultless safety record for 30 years.
