An outing in a carriage with your partner is really romantic. They offer routes around the city in different areas such as the Cathedral, the Plaza de la Aduana Square and the area surrounding the Plaza de la Marina Square. On the trip you’ll discover parks and monuments in Malaga, but here are the most romantic places so you don’t miss any:
Plaza de la Merced: It is the most popular square in the city, especially because it has been used as a subject by many painters and illustrators. The area is full of bars to spend time together while the sun goes down. One of the buildings also houses the Picasso Birthplace Museum. What could be a great scene for your memory? A couple surrounded by fluttering pigeons, which once inspired Picasso in this square. And if you fancy discovering his work, you can visit the Picasso Museum.
Monte de Gibralfaro Hill and the Alcazaba Citadel: There is a stunning panoramic view of the city from the top of the hill. The Alcazaba citadel is a Moorish palace-fortress, full of history. Nearby are the Roman Theatre and the Aduana building, meaning that in a few metres you’ll find examples of the Moorish, Roman and Renaissance cultures.
Malaga Park: It is a beautiful avenue flanked by gardens, and a place we highly recommend if you want to go for a walk, together with the Town Hall and the Puerta Oscura and Pedro Luis Alonso gardens. They are a good example of a Mediterranean garden in which the integration of plants into architecture stands out.
Paseo de la Farola: It is one of the avenues next to Malaga Port, affording a great view of the same. One of the city’s symbols can be found here – the Farola, a 200-year-old lighthouse.
La Malagueta: It is the main beach in Malaga, recommended for watching the sun rise over the sea. At night, on the large promenade you’ll find restaurants and clubs where you can enjoy music and good conversation.
