From 1 October to 15 November, the campaign ‘Restaurants united against hunger’ will take place for the second time all over Spain.
This initiative, organised by Action against Hunger (an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to the fight against infant malnutrition) and supported by the Spanish Hotel and Catering Association (FEHR), is an ideal combination of gastronomy and solidarity. Through a range of dishes and set menus, 400 restaurants are offering their customers the chance to show a spirit of solidarity simply by going out for a meal.
During the month and half of the campaign you can choose from a range of dishes and set menus which have been specially prepared for this initiative (marked with a sticker on the menu), and the participating restaurants will donate part of the price: for every 40 euros, Action against Hunger will be able to provide treatment to save the life of a child at risk of malnutrition in some of the world’s poorest countries.
You can also take part by sending an SMS with the word HAMBRE to 28010.
This campaign has been running since 1998 in Action against Hunger branches in the UK and USA, and has so far collected 1.3 million euros. This programme is sponsored by Calvo and Makro.
