A Guide to Puerto Pollensa
Puerto de Pollensa (Pollenca) is a very well known popular family resort in the far north of Majorca in the municipality of Pollensa.
Pollensa’s natural beauty and gently sloping safe sandy beaches are perfect for tourists with children and also ideal for many watersports, in fact there is a Wind Surf school on the beach as you approach the Puerto Pollensa.

You will find the Tourist Information Office in Paseo Saralegui, at the beach/Port opposite the Taxis & Bus stop. If you visit the Tourist Office be sure to ask for a local map which is free and there you will also find other tourist information from all around the Island of Mallorca. If there is something in particular you would like to know, ask the attendant and they will search their database..
Surfing in Pollensa Pollensa Beaches (Perfect for Children!)
Because Puerto de Pollensa beach is so long and wide, you will always plenty of space and that’s a real bonus for tourists who are beach lovers. There is a super little cafe situated on the beach itself where you can buy drinks or have a snack.

The Pinewalk Puerto de Pollensa
Along the Pinewalk, which is the area which runs most of the length of Puerto de Pollensa and is named so because of the lovely pine trees, are a variety of hotels, restaurants, shops, cafes & bars.
This is a very pleasant walk especially in the evenings, popular with tourists and locals alike. At the far end of the Pinewalk after the Illa D’Or Hotel is the Aerodrome. There are small areas of beach along this part of the bay but they are a little more crowded. Some hotels have private sunbathing areas which have beautiful views across the bay of Puerto de Pollensa.

Originally Puerto de Pollenca was a small fishing village and has slowly grown over the years into a very popular resort. Puerto Pollensa market is held every Wednesday in the main square from 1000 – 1300. The Port and Marina are stunningly beautiful against the backdrop of the Tramuntana mountains.
The town of Pollenca, see towns & villages, is found just a short drive from Puerto Pollensa. This old town of Pollensa centres traditionally around the quaint market square & church and is well worth a visit. There are a good variety of shops, restaurants, cafes & bars. Pollensa market is held on Sunday morning. You can also reach this by local bus, see bus routes.

Car Hire is easily available in the resort of Puerto de Pollensa but if you wish you can travel to Pollensa or Cala San Vicente by bus or taxi for a few euros.

Formentor & Lighthouse/Cala San Vicente / Boat Trips/Waterpark
You can travel to Formentor, the northmost point of Majorca (Mallorca) easily by car from Puerto Pollensa and many tourists love this trip. You can arrange this trip with one of the tourist ticket-offices in the resort or with a tour operator in a hotel. The scenery is very beautiful, with stopping points and eventually you will reach the wonderful quiet beaches at Formentor. The journey is a little slow at times as the road is very narrow! There is a very famous 5 star hotel ‘Formentor Hotel’ (Barcelo) many years ago this is where famous people stayed on visiting Mallorca.

If you follow the Lighthouse road approx 10 minutes you will find the Lighthouse where you can park and admire the view!
Many tourists enjoy visiting the quaint small resort of Cala San Vicente which is also just a few kilometres north from Puerto de Pollensa.
If you do not have a hire car, you can take a taxi or bus for a few euros.

From Puerto Pollensa you can arrange many tourist boat trips. The scenery from these trips is fabulous, with many coves, craggy headlands and rocky islands.
