A DANISH company is planning a theme park in Mallorca which would involve an investment of up to €300 million.
Regional Government President, Jose Ramon Bauza met with representatives from the company to discuss the park which would occupy an area of between 100 and 150 hectares.
Theme Park Group ApS has requested the support of the Balearic Islands Regional Government for the project, particularly in reference to possible amendments to planning legislation.
Among those present was Marketing Director of the company, Dean Sinclair as well as members of Palma and Llucmajor town hall. According to Sinclair, the company is considering several locations on the island for the park, among them Playa de Palma, or an area between Llucmajor and Campos.
More than 1,500 people will be involved in the design, development and construction of the park over an 18 month period, according to the company website.
In peak season, about 800 will be employed in the park, as well as another 300 indirect jobs. Once operational, the company estimates the annual payroll to exceed €14 million.
Although registered in Copenhagen (Denmark) Theme Park Group is composed of a group of professional investors from several nationalities.
The company was contacted via email by EWN for comment but did not respond.
The meeting took place just days after Spain was voted Britain’s number one family-friendly holiday destination with 35 to 44-year-olds, according to a survey of 2000 consumers released at the annual Abta convention in Palma.
