Since 1998, the city of Malaga in Andalusia has hosted this festival dedicated to showcasing and promoting Spanish film.
Every year the festival includes previously unseen feature-length and short films and documentaries. Malaga is transformed into a centre for debate and a meeting point for figures in the national film industry, as well as showcasing a wide range of productions.
From this Friday the 21st until Saturday the 29th of March will be the 17th edition. A whole week during which the city is the nerve centre of the Spanish film industry, bringing together the most popular and prestigious actors and actresses, who come to present their latest films.
One of the Festival’s highlights is, of course, the red carpet – a silent witness to the footsteps of the most beloved film stars in Spain.
Movie-goers have lots of films to choose from at the Festival, not only the feature films in the Official Selection but also short films and documentaries.
This year, on the 17th edition, films like Una noche en el viejo México (A Night in Old Mexico), directed by Emilio Aragón, or No llores, vuela (Aloft), a Canadian-French production by Peruvian filmmaker Claudia Llosa, will be in competition for the Golden Biznaga.
A must-attend event for all film lovers. A week during which the city is literally in the spotlight.
