To celebrate the leading leisure airline’s first flight to its sixth Spanish destination from Edinburgh, Jet2.com’s Edinburgh Station Manager, Fiona Black, joined Davis Hunter, Edinburgh Airport’s Commercial Director, in an impromptu flamenco lesson with the lead dancer from local group Pellizco Flamenco.

Jet2.com’s direct Edinburgh to Alicante service will operate up to three times a week throughout the summer until Sunday 17th November 2012, with prices starting at just £37.99 per person including taxes.

Families and couples looking for great value package holidays to the famous ‘White Coast’ can take advantage of the great offers from Jet2holidays – which combine Jet2.com flights, resort transfers, 22kg baggage allowance, handpicked two to five star hotels and ATOL protection, from just £229 per person.

Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director of Jet2.com, said:  “We are really pleased to have launched our direct service from Edinburgh to Alicante.  The addition of this popular destination to our other five Spanish hotspots, means we now have all the major Spanish mainland and Balearic resorts covered from Edinburgh, giving local holidaymakers even more choice of sunshine destinations for their well-earned break.”

Jim O’Sullivan, Managing Director, Edinburgh Airport, said: “Alicante is a key leisure destination for Edinburgh Airport passengers and this service from Jet2.com will be roundly welcomed across Scotland.  Jet2.com is an important partner of ours and we are working hard together to continually improve choice for Scottish air travellers.”

Alicante is the gateway to the Costa Blanca, which is famous for white sandy beaches – 470 of which have been awarded the quality Blue Flag. Alicante also offers a great mixture of first class golf courses, sumptuous local cuisine, and sweeping Spanish scenery. Alicante’s impressive mountain-top castle is well worth a visit and thrill-seekers should head to the amusement park Terra Mítica on the outskirts of Benidorm, or the Benidorm Palace, a colourful interactive spectacle featuring dancers and glamorous costumes.
