The Iberia Group, through its subsidiary Iberia Express, will launch non-stop flights from London to Mallorca, and to Gran Canaria and Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
The airline will start connecting the Balearic capital from Heathrow’s T5 with one daily flight from the 1st of April, just in time for Easter. At the start of the summer season the Spanish carrier will fly to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and to Tenerife on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, offering British holidaymakers more options for reaching the sunshine and beaches of their favourite islands.
British travellers can reach Spain’s Canary Islands in the Atlantic in less than four and a half hours from Heathrow. On Gran Canaria and Tenerife, the largest of the volcanic islands, they can enjoy the beaches, the mountains, and the fine weather in both summer and winter –average temperatures throughout the year range between 18° and 24°C (64° and 75°F).
The new flights from London-Heathrow Terminal 5 will be offered under code-sharing with British Airways. Members of BA’s Executive Club and of Iberia Plus can earn and spend Avios on these flights. Customers can already book and buy their tickets on iberia.com and britishairways.com, as well as on GDSs.
Between them, Iberia and British Airways operate a total of 400 flights a week between the UK and Spain. In addition to the new flights to the Spanish islands, this year Iberia Express will launch Edinburgh-Madrid on March 27 and Manchester-Madrid services on September 8.
Iberia Express, a subsidiary of Iberia, like British Airways and Spain’s Barcelona-based Vueling, belongs to the IAG airline group. It operates short and medium-haul routes and provides direct traffic as well as feeding Iberia’s long-haul network.
