Home completions jump 23% in a year, as Taylor Wimpey España points to sustainability as top 2025 priority

Spanish home builder completed 504 homes in 2024

Leading Spanish home builder Taylor Wimpey España has reported a significant acceleration in construction. The firm completed 504 homes in 2024 – an increase of 23% compared to the 410 completed in 2023. Selling prices also rose in 2024, with an average selling price of €440,000 during the year, up 10% from 2023’s average of €400,000.

Looking back over the past year, as well as to 2025 and beyond, sustainability and energy efficiency have become central to the construction of the firm’s Spanish homes. Taylor Wimpey España is now delivering a range of homes rated A for their energy efficiency, with properties available in the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and Mallorca.

An example is Eden Beach, a cluster of bright, contemporary apartments just 700 metres from La Mata beach in Torrevieja. The homes combine urban convenience with spectacular sea views, with everything from a local Mercadona supermarket to the stunning beach easily reachable on foot. Ground floor apartments come with their own gardens, while those on the top floor have private solariums. All homes within the private, gated community come with double glazing, aerothermal heating and pre-installation for electric vehicles. Rated A for their energy efficiency, the homes ensure that owners’ energy bills will be kept to a minimum.

“Energy efficiency is a big focus for us. It’s the responsible way to build, in big-picture terms, plus it delivers cost savings to every homebuyer each time they pay their energy bills. We’re proud to be showcasing this commitment at Eden Beach.”

A-rated homes prized by buyers for their energy efficiency

Prices at Eden Beach start from €245,000 plus VAT for a two-bedroom apartment, as part of the second phase of apartments being built at the development. These second phase homes have been designed to provide larger terraces, as well as new layouts, including three-bedroom penthouses for those seeking the ultimate sea views. The price of all homes includes use of the resort’s facilities, which encompass landscaped gardens and beautiful cascading pools. A show home is available for those wishing to see the development either in person or virtually.

Taylor Wimpey España has made clear that sustainability will be at the core of the way it designs and builds homes in 2025 and beyond. Aerothermal heating, which uses heat pumps to draw energy from the air to heat and cool homes, and produce hot water, is one of several design features that are key to this aim. Others include aerated faucets and dual flush cisterns for saving water, the installation of energy efficient appliances, air conditioning systems with R32 refrigerant gas (known for their energy efficiency) and controlled mechanical ventilation for interior air renewal.

For internal common areas, low consumption lighting is used in combination with presence sensors. Outside, native vegetation is maintained where possible and new planting is chosen to minimise water consumption, with drip irrigation systems with timers in garden areas.
Average selling price also up – by 10%

The build process is also as sustainable as possible, using local suppliers to help minimise the carbon footprint resulting from transporting materials. Site waste is segregated and recycled and all energy used during the build process is contracted with suppliers who hold a Certified Guarantee of Origin for the execution of the work.

“Building homes more sustainably takes thought and commitment. It’s also an area where we can continually strive to do more, pushing the boundaries to ensure that new homes are built in a way that helps to fight climate change and contributes to improved health and wellbeing.”
