Alicante-Elche airport has served a total of 8,954,841 passengers so far this year, 4.7% more than the same period in 2013, after October brought 966,287 travellers through the facility.
According to a report issued this week, domestic traffic increased by 23.9% compared with October 2013, with an additional 99,117 passengers, with the accumulated number of passengers from within Spain totalling 986,127 up until the end of October, 5.4% more than the same months in 2013.
As for the international market, the UK was top of the list during October, with 423,541 passengers passing through, followed by those from Germany with 82,922, Norway with 62,675, Holland with 59,267, Belgium with 51 160 and Sweden with 38,817 travellers. In total, international traffic recorded a 1.9% increase over October last year, with 866,287 passengers.
There were a total of 6,731 flights handled by the airport in October, an increase of 3.5% on the same month of last year, whereas for the year to date, there have been 62,967 flight movements, an increase of 5.3% on 2013. As for domestic flights, there were a total of 1,157 during October, an increase of 41.8% compared to the same month last year.
Perhaps not surprising but the largest number of International flights in October served the UK, with 2,613 operations, followed by Germany with 500, Norway with 378, 385 went to The Netherlands, 331 served Belgium, and Sweden was served by 235 operations.
