Jet2.com expands UK-Spain programme for 2017

Both tourists and expats alike are set to benefit from a recent announcement from low-cost airline Jet2.com, which has expanded its Spanish flight programme by adding two new UK bases – as well as an additional route to a popular Mediterranean resort area.

From March 30th, Jet2.com will be operating flights from Birmingham and London Stansted airports, taking the tally of its UK bases up to nine. Jet2holidays, its sister company which operates package holidays to destinations across Europe, will also be offering more opportunities for holidays for customers flying from these new bases.

Alicante and the Costa Dorada – Jet2.com’s busiest route between the UK and Spain – will be particularly bolstered by additional year-round flights from these bases. However, the company continues to extend its presence further around the nation’s south coast with a new route to Almería Airport, its 14th Spanish destination and seventh on the mainland.

The Costa de Almeria connection will first fly on April 27th, and will be connected to five UK airports: East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle. The move effectively bridges a gap between Jet2.com’s routes on the east coast and its popular Portuguese destination, Faro.

Jet2’com had most recently launched UK connections to Girona, in order to serve British customers wishing to visit the Costa Brava. Jet2.com completed 2016 with new routes to Berlin, Germany and Sofia, Bulgaria. It has also announced new connections to Thessaloniki, Greece, which will target the popular resort of Halkidiki.

These latest expansions are part of an ambitious plan by the company, which has effectively launched its largest-ever flights and package holidays programme for a summer season that will offer 38,000 flights and seven million seats.

In September, Jet2.com received the first of 30 new 737-800 Boeing aircraft from the aerospace giant’s Renton Factory in Seattle, Washington, which are supporting its growth targets.
